.continuing from the prev post..
eating in Malaysia has always been enjoyable. I don't think there is once that after eating in Malaysia I feel like i'm gna explode- the sort of feeling that I'm getting after buffets in Singapore. Had a 1200 ringit dinner. not cheap but good food. Most of the times at family gatherings I find myself people watching. Just looking at the way the different family interact.Although the siblings are related by blood, strained relationships, awkward moments. Woke up EARLY on Thursday morning to take a cab to crown hotel to then take aeroline back to Singapore. Aeroline is seriously good. their service is almost airline standard. they know when to disturb you and when not to. They understand that people like their coach rides undisturbed, they let you sleep all the way until you're at a toilet stop then talks thru the mic. announcing the time we have. Slept ALL the way back to Singapore. just made sense.embarrassing moment, I was trying to get the seat a little more declined cause my neck was keeeeeling me. the seat was totally stuck, when it finally moved it went far back, the guy behind was prob shocked. Also another reason why I slept through the whole journey. one good day of rest. Rushed through my packing at 2am on Friday. Left the house at 545. kor just arrived in time to run for his tigerairways flight to meet us in Bangkok. it was a 1.75 hour flight to Bangkok. Partially regretted not watching a movie on the plane. its SIA for goodness. If we ever travel on our own my parents would NEVER EVER book an SIA ticket. the only reason why I take SIA at least once a year is because my parents company always books SIA, great stuff, how they appreciate the staff and reward them with such awesome trips, 4-5star hotels, transportation to and from airports Reached Bangkok at 950 BKK time. took a half an hour bus ride to the hotel. Some thing I noticed- the agent from the Singapore company is good looking. He took the group -group A from the airport to the hotel and then to the company sponsored dinner and from hotel to airport. small stuff but I think these agents actually enjoy themselves.I wouldnt mind getting paid and having the opportunity to shop!. arrived, left lagguage at the concierge and went out to shop. its funny, we were just walking along the street and this tuk-tuk driver ran up to my dad. asking us where we wanted to go. Seeing that we were in such a lost state he recommended we go to mbk, which was near his sponser shop and it was air conditioned unlike the street shops. 20baht for four people in the small tuk-tuk. sounded like a good deal, it had a catch. The driver was making a U-turn and then stopped to wait for his kaki. Another tuk-tuk driver drove behind him, in his early 20s, with the minimal English they can speak he pointed two of us into the next tuktuk and repeated 'follow' at least twenty times. They brought us to a jewellery shop. for that they got 1 litre of petrol. if we buy something- obviously there is the commission. So we walked in, pretend to look interested, left for mbk. walked around for quite a bit. nothing looked appealing so we headed to the fifth avenue- internation cuisine. some shop had a noodle- curry buffet for 35-40baht per head. 7 different curries. too good to be true. So we went into the main area of the fifth avenue. it operated like marche according to my bro. you have this credit card, you buy whatever you want and pay when you want to leave. the service charge was 5%, the people are REALLY good and service- awesome. once me and my bro sat down with our drinks a lady straight away came up to us, looked at our receipt and brought my meal from the store over to my table went to shop. Only bought shorts and a pair of black jeans from mbk. got back to the hotel by 5pm, as the dinner they were going to take us to was actually sponsered by tourism thailand, had waiters on skates. when they first said that on the bus I was thinking, american high skirted girls with white and pink roller skates, pig tails, cheery smile. I was disappointed I tell you, disappointed. The service was poor, I didnt see anything interesting about them moving around in skates, they looked dirty and the servers were ALL guys except for one girl. and for one thing Thai girls are REALLY small built. Ate a substandard or not too appetising meal and headed back to the hotel to watch tv and rest for the night. On Saturday we woke up to mum's calls, she called twice, I didnt bother waking up. Went for international breakfast. Honestly the one served at that hotel SUCKED. Usually when I'm on holiday one thing I always look forward to is the international breakfast. the norm stuff they have is hash browns, apple juice, waffles, jam tarts. its food galore. But the items served there were just bad. compared to the international breakfasts of the Newzealand trip and Korea trip, this is by far the worst. after breakfast we headed out to platinum. Its supposed to be the wholesale mall type of thing. all the prices are cheap cause every other stall is selling the same thing that was where I bought clothes like kerazi bought 3 pairs of pants for 450baht ( 19 Sing), 3 pairs of shorts for 300baht(12sing), 2tops for 200baht(8sing) , 3tops for 450baht and two printed bags for 190baht each(8sing each). that was my happiest shopping trip. Got back to the hotel by 4 as we were advised to avoid the traffic jam at 5pm. It wasnt easy getting transport back as everyone wanted to bring us to their sponser shop so they could get free petrol. As dad would describe, the shopping trip is a back breaking experience and we were all super tired, we wanted a taxi that could bring us straight to the hotel. the tuk-tuk offered 250baht (10sing), then another tuktuk driver said 200baht!with sponser. we were like, oh my gosh. no sponser! in the end we manage to get a taxi-metre to go back to the hotel at 60baht (2.50sing). took a siesta and then got out again at night. went to the jjmarket via the skytrain, extremely similar to our mrts just that the trains not long enough for the platform. took the skytrain from phaya thai to mo chit. mo chit is a mess i tell you. went to the night market or more commonly known- chutachuk market. got ourselves lost inside, if you walk into the sheltered area, it stinks so bad you can hardly breathe. we walked along the road, many people who dont have stalls just lay out their mats on the floor and then display their goods.Everything was soooo MESSY, i didnt buy anything.there was nothing of interest. went to jjmall to eat dinner after getting ourselves lost in jj market for about 45minutes. we could get out, just that we would have to retrace the 2km that we've walked in jjmarket. had beef noodles for dinner, apparently the food stalls closed at 7.30-8. which is REALLY early we were the last coustomers. then headed out to look for the skytrain station. boy no one could speak english. randomly walked until we saw the station. caught a train back for 30baht (1.20sing) each. packed and stuffed all my newly bought clothes into my bag.I was totally prepared. I even had an extra bag that I didnt use but my parents ended up borrowing. watched e! channel for almost 2 hours before i slept. the programme was about posh&beckham and another prominent figure i cant recall now. got up bright and early apparently a bunch of other ppl got up early to go out and shop somemore before their flight. left the hotel at 730 its funny how overpriced somethings can get. like taking the hotel transport to the airport is 1600 baht(68sing), taking a metre taxi is aroud 500 baht(21sing) so we caught a taxi-metre to the airport and walked around until my legs were sore checked in the ealiest thus got seats with my parents. slept through the flight as the kris flyer entertainment had some issues and only had two movies to watch. that screams the words BORING! back in Singapore, went straight for work after arriving home. lame nut derrick asked how much i earned in Bangkok and where i stayed. I bet he knows the best place, if youre still not getting it, dont bother. |
